Happy Holidays

This is PhotoShop project I found a while ago. I brushed of the dust and tweaked it a little. I sent it out as a Christmas card this year.

Linux 8.04 Hardy Heron

So, after, playing with Tiger and Leopard (Mac OS X 4 and 5, respectively) and installing the RC of Windows 7 on my PC, I have gone back to using LINUX. I went to the Xubuntu and Kubuntu sites to download the latest .iso files, but then found I had a Hardy Heron Xubuntu CD hidden away in my closet. Hardy has been out since 2008 and is not the most recent release (I think there are two ahead of it now), but I forgot how much I truly enjoyed using it.

If you make the commitment to learn just a little terminal code, LINUX is super-easy to use, especially with the recent improvement to the distribution network. The first thing I did was got Java and Flash for internet browsing needs, then I installed all of my networking tools (remote desktop, folder mounting, network analysis). Finally I installed "wine" to run programs like Office and PhotoShop.

So far the experience has been far superior to Windows Seven and MAC OS distributions.

Podcasts

This is a podcast I did for class. The content may a little on the academic side but I had fun making it. Actually I used a screencaster for Windows called Camstudio. It is OpenSource and saves video output in .AVI, or .SWF by default. 3rd party software is required for conversion to other formats, though so see this help page for details.
